A web portal called 'redjuly.live' has been created to collect the information of the killed, injured or missing persons in the anti-discrimination student movement on the initiative of teachers and students of Jahangirnagar University (JU).

Mahmudul Hasan Milhan, a 50th batch student of Botany Department, Masud Alam, a former student of JU and Senior technical lead of Veritech Company, and Abu Saeed Md. Mostafizur Rahman, a teacher of computer science and engineering department of the university worked to create this website.

The organizers said that the information will be collected in several layers on this site through crowd sourcing. The information coming from all over the country will be verified through verification and selection of representatives This information will be used later for research and to help the injured

The founder of Red July, Mahmudulu Hasan Milhan, said that on this website, everything including detailed information, documents, pictures and videos of the martyrs, injured and missing can be found. Student representatives in different districts, upazilas and unions will collect and verify this information. The initiative is out of a sense of responsibility to the injured and killed, and Red July does not collect any money.

A teacher of the university Abu Saeed said, this web site is made in three layers. After inputting any information, the information will be published on the website after two-layer verification.

Sheikh Mohammad Sabuj, a member of Red July, said that their initiative is to ensure that there is proper information about the injured and the martyrs, so that no complications may arise in the future, that they should be compensated for their sacrifices and that there should be proof of the brutality of the dictatorial regime.

The opening ceremony of this portal was held in a recent press conference at Zahur Hossain Hall of Jatiya Press Club. Professor Jamal Uddin Runu, Professor Mafuruhi Sattar, Professor Abu Saeed Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Professor Shamsul Alam Salim and Professor Mohammad Saleh of Jahangirnagar University were present at that time.

Professor Jamal Uddin Runu of the Department of Environmental Science said that the idea of this web portal came from among the students. I also said that documentation is important. We have kept case studies from each incident, we will try to highlight the story behind these disappearances and murders.

Coordinator Maliha Namlah said, even after the liberation war in 1971, we could not formulate the correct list of martyrs. By this, many beneficiary classes have benefited from the identity of freedom fighters. Again, there are many freedom fighters, who did not get any benefits. Those who have been martyred and injured in this movement have a different story. Through this we will get the proper information of the injured. It will be possible to reach the right people when the government provides the facilities

Coordinator Abdur Rashid Jitu said that the first Jahangirnagar University is the first to make the campus free from Chhatra League and Police in Dhaka; violated the curfew and went to the streets. Five thousand students and teachers marched towards Dhaka in the long march of August 5. We have taken this initiative with the thought of presenting the correct information of the students who were injured-killed or missing in the student uprising to the next generation. Starting from here, the information of all the places will be registered here.

Coordinator Arif Sohail said Jahangirnagar in Dhaka was the cradle of the movement. On 15 July, When other campuses in Dhaka were attacked, Jahangirnagar organized students for the first time to protest. With the joint initiative of teachers and students, we will collect the information from all over the country and it will be possible to ensure long-term government and private support.

Professor Shamsul Alam Salim said that Jahangirnagar played an important role in this 36-day student movement. This web portal will be useful for bringing out the information of those who have been injured and killed. Besides, the students should be given the opportunity to shape the movement that led to the birth of independent Bangladesh.
